What is Title One?

     Title One is a federally funded literacy program.  This district-wide program is designed to meet the needs of students who require additional instruction to develop literacy skills, such as phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary development, fluency, comprehension, and writing.  Throughout the year, a concentrated effort will be made to give the help and encouragement students need to become confident, successful readers and writers.

      District assessments and teacher referrals are used to identify students in need of supplemental instruction.  I work in cooperation with the regular classroom teachers to provide additional support with reading and writing activities.  I meet students' needs at the levels that they are currently performing and work diligently to close the gaps so they are able to perform on grade level.
